Gunpowder Golf Course opened in 1956. The course was designed by Robert "Bob" Milligan.
This 18 hole, Par 70 course measures 6061 yards, featuring narrow fairways to small undulating greens. Both the front and back nines offer tree-lined, hilly holes that require patience and accuracy. The beautiful natural setting is preserved as much as possible and wildlife abounds.

Gunpowder is an old family owned course that is cheap and not busy during the week. However, the greens are usually rough. The fairways are narrow so it can be a challenge. Fun to play during the week and at $10 to $15, a great bargain. Plus there are few courses in the immediate area.

60 years old and all grown up and filled in. There is a taste of Scotland in this course that was designed and built by the original owner. 20 years ago, it was in tough shape. Today, fairways have been seeded and once barren land is now grass covered. The golf experience is enhanced by the natural surroundings. While seeking birdies, one can enjoy the spectacle of a resident red tailed hawk. The course, though short is challenging. Several of the greens are home to "sick" pin placements. Short second shots become much more challenging when the target area is reduced to the size of a beach blanket. You play around at Gunpowder and experience the game as it was intended to be played.
